Mission
The Association
for the Researching and Testing of Historical Weapons (GEEhW) has
set itself the goal of researching historical weapons from prehistory
up to the 19th Century.
The main task consists of the documentation and collection of historical
weapons and then making this information available in the GEEhW
database, both for the general public and scientific institutes.
Apart from the basic inventory work questions into the historical
use of the weapons will also be investigated; this is an area where
areas of historical expertise could potentially overlap, for example
with the historical fencing group.
The main aim of the volunteer members of the GEEhW is to encourage
the exchange of information and cooperation between various organizations,
clubs and museums. To this end we would like to foster a bridge
between archaeologists, museum curators, dedicated weapons collectors,
historical fencers, re-creators of living history as well as interested
museum visitors.
The GEEhW, based in Garching, has been a registered charity since
2009 ( Registration Court, Traunstein).
